It is quite possible that your anxiety and stress fatigue has both a physical and emotional component. Many of us have a constant stream of chatter going on in our heads — a kind of stress implant from our earliest years — that requires a great deal of subconscious energy to manage.

Learning what your private litany is — be it chants of self-criticism, despair, anger, grief, shame or fear — may be the first step toward turning down its volume and reversing the spiral of fatigue. But you won’t hear much about how to do that in conventional medical circles, where mild to moderate fatigue is often ignored and under-treated.

In the conventional view, persistent mild fatigue is usually considered a reaction to sleep-deprivation or overwork, and as such is usually treated with a prescription for a sedative. While this may allow the user to sleep for six to eight steady hours when they take it — which can do good — it does little to treat the stress-induced physiological imbalance causing the anxiety and stress fatigue.

Chronic and hidden emotional stress takes a toll on your body by overtaxing your adrenal glands. Coming to terms with anxiety and stress fatigue is a very individualized and complicated issue for most people. Learning how to deal with it may require a protocol of rest, supplements, regular exercise, and various alternative techniques. One such method is The Regain Your Freedom Technique.

This technique is easy to use and requires no special time consuming processes. You only use actions what you are already doing on a daily basis. The Regain Your Freedom Technique teaches you how to tap into and use these actions in a more productive and result generating way.

Writing in a journal, self-talk and thinking are used in the Anxiety Ended System. The Regain Your Freedom Technique is part of this system.

Home-cooked meals - pork chops, pot roast and roast chicken - used to be the norm. Now they’re the exception. A family that can co-ordinate schedules to have dinner together has become food for thought.

Thoughts about food run the gamut from necessities to no-no’s - from vitamins and minerals to Vic’s pizza and Ming’s chow mein - to take-out. Because we all seem to be on the treadmill of life, take-out has become the reality of today’s family dinners.

Headaches, cramps and nausea have become my realities. I’d feel better if the condition had an exotic name - like the Southern Sumerian Virus - but it’s just plain food intolerance.

I wish I had an intolerance to okra. I could live a full and productive life without okra. But no, it’s milk and wheat - burger buns and thick shakes. I’m intolerant of McDonald’s!

Take-out is tricky because my dietary demons can play hide and seek. There’s wheat in mayonnaise and there’s milk in salad dressing. With take-out food I have to be a dietary Dick Tracey.

Giving up coffee because of caffeine meant I also had to give up tea, cola and chocolate. The good news is there’s life after chocolate, but no one truffles with your affection.

There seems to be an unwritten rule that the better something tastes, the more likely it is I’ll have an intolerance to it. Refined sugar gives me stomach aches; but giving up foods containing refined sugar seems un-American - if not impossible.

Sugar comprises twenty-five percent of the average American’s calories. I guess it’s not coincidence that the average American is overweight.

Giving up sugar also means giving up dextrose, fructose and lactose. There was a time I thought they were partners in a law firm, but any word ending in “ose” is a form of sugar. “OSE” is a “four-letter suffix” spelled with three letters.

The average American - whoever he or she is - annually consumes eighteen pounds of sweeteners made from corn. High fructose corn syrup is mentioned on the majority of packaged food labels. In fact, the beverage industry uses more corn sweeteners than the candy industry - more corn than is in Cousin Walter’s knock-knock jokes.

It seems that instead of eating, I should be grazing on a high fiber diet - on barley, buckwheat and oats. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough fiber in my vitamin enriched, corn crunchies unless I ate the box too.

Since so many people in the United States are currently in the middle of a “carb-frenzy”, this series of articles has focused on the pros and cons of the low-carb diet.

Topics of discussion have been 1) Can you stick with a low-carb diet for the long term, 2) Conflicting messages about carbs and 3) bodybuilders and low-carb dieting.

This article will define and describe carbohydrates and what role they play in the human body.

Carbohydrate - Chemical compound of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, usually with the hydrogen and oxygen in the right proportions to form water. Common forms are starches, sugars, cellulose, and gums. Carbohydrates are more readily used for energy production than are fats and proteins. One of the three basic foodstuffs (proteins and fats are the others), carbohydrates are a group of chemical substances including sugars, glycogen, starches, dextrins, and cellulose. They comprise the body’s main source of raw material for energy. Carbohydrates can be classified as either a simple carbohydrate or a complex carbohydrate.

Digested carbohydrate enters the circulatory system in the form of monosaccharides, primarily glucose. Lesser amounts of fructose and galactose are also absorbed, but these are eventually converted into glucose in the liver. Before they can be absorbed into the bloodstream, polysaccharides and disaccharides must be broken down into monosaccharides by specific enzymes during the digestive process.

When you comsume carbohydrates, your digestive system converts them to blood sugar (glucose). This glucose is stored in your muscle cells and in your liver. Your brain operates with the help of glucose in your blood as energy. When training is intense, glycogen stored within your muscles provides most of the energy for contractions. When training with low intensity, your blood-borne sugar acts as an energy source. A problem occurs when there is leftover glucose in your blood following a refill of carbohydrate stores. The remaining carbohydrates are stored as fat.

There are several types of carbohydrates, some better than others. Starch, sugar and dextrose are all types of carbohydrates. The three main types of carbohydrates are:

* Monosaccharides (one-sugar molecule)

* Disaccharides (two-sugar molecule)

* Polysaccharides (three or more sugar molecules)

Monosaccharides and disaccharides are commonly called sugars, while polysaccharides are called complex carbohydrates or glucose polymers. Some of the more commonly encountered carbohydrates in these three categories include the following:

* Monosaccharides: glucose, fructose, sorbitol, galactose, mannitol, mannose

* Disaccharides: sucrose = glucose + fructose; maltose = glucose + glucose; lactose = glucose + galactose

* Polysaccharides: Starch, dextrin, cellulose and glycogen, all of which are made of chains of glucose. Found in whole grains, vegetables, nuts, some fruits and legumes. Fibers are mainly the indigestible complex carbohydrates (polysaccharides) that make up plant cell walls.

The Glycemic Index is a handy rating system that tells you what carbohydrates provide the best energy for prolonged training periods. By consuming a food with a low glycemic rating, you will experience a more stabilized blood sugar level.

Remember, carbohydrates are your body’s preferred energy fuel source, although fats work well too., particularly during aerobic training. Remember that protein and carbohydrates both have 4 calories per gram, while fat has 9 calories per gram.

Conversation on coffee is going on a hundred times a day. Gourmet Coffee drinkers are converting their friends to the amazing taste of coffee and as one of the world’s most preferred drinks; this conversation would as well be going on for years.

However, for the people that do not enjoy drinking coffee, they normally do not understand what actually the appeal of gourmet coffee drinking is. Numerous studies are being conducted to test the negative effects, which coffee has on normal human health.

So, why precisely has gourmet coffee managed to carry on for centuries as one of the most admired drink throughout the world? While hardcore coffee aficionados would point out, which coffee is a luscious drink, there’s a little bit more to the reasons why coffee is so accepted. That’s because one of the least discussed parts of coffee are the real benefits of best gourmet coffee.

No doubt coffee is a tasty drink and the rise of forte coffee, gourmet coffee, organic coffee, and other flavored coffee in current years has only augmented the number of yummy coffee drinks, which are at present available at coffee shops, cafes, and supermarkets all through the country. However, there are some other huge benefits to drinking coffee. With the rise of free trade coffee, there are now political benefits as well to consuming gourmet coffee. That’s because the intention of the free trade coffee industry is planned to help poor coffee growers in main coffee growing regions that have become victims in the coffee trade, as coffee product prices have been kept low at the cost of these workers.

However, there are some other social benefits to drinking gourmet coffee. For instance, you’ve just been set up on a rendezvous by your friends and are now anxiously searching for a amazing place to go to that would be inexpensive, low-maintenance, and offer an easy exit strategy in case things do not look good. Then the perfect solution is to go out for coffee at a pleasant specialty coffee store. Of course, there are as well the benefits of coffee as manure and the most obvious benefit of all - coffee as refreshment.

Acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, which consists of a hair, a hair follicle and sebaceous gland. Pilosebaceous units are located all over your body, except for your lower lip, palms, soles and tops of feet.

Most of these units can be found on the face, neck and chest. The sebaceous gland produces sebum, an oily substance that keeps your skin moisturized. At adolescence, sebaceous glands enlarge and make more sebum due to an increase of hormones called androgens and bacteria on your skin increases overall.

Types of bacteria that begin to appear on your skin during the teen years include proprionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), staphylococcus epidermis and proprionibacterium granulosum. There is also a substantial increase of Melassezia yeasts. Although the severity of acne is not contingent on the number of bacteria on the skin, the P. acnes bacteria specifically can produce inflammatory agents and active enzymes that could contribute to the activity of acne. These agents and enzymes include proteases, hyaluronate lyase, lipases, phosphatase and smooth-muscle contracting substances. Such bacteria can penetrate the skin, causing inflammation resulting in external eruptions and pimples that appear on the skin.

The formation of free fatty acids is also caused by bacteria. These free fatty acids are irritants that increase inflammation in the follicle. When follicles become obstructed by excess sebum, the process is referred to comedogenesis. This process results in a type of acne called comedones, commonly known as blackheads and whiteheads.

To minimize bacteria on your skin, make sure to wash your face twice a day with a suitable cleanser. Using an astringent, clay facial mask and exfoliator can also remove surface sebum from your skin and prevent potential blemishes. Natural antimicrobial ingredients to look for in the products you choose include tea tree oil, sage oil, thyme oil, eucalyptus oil and witch hazel extract. These natural elements gently remove oil and bacteria from the surface of your skin. Consuming greasy foods can also increase the amount of sebum produced within your body, ultimately causing an oilier complexion externally, and should be avoided.

With a little extra attention, you can keep your skin free of bacteria and blemishes for a porcelain perfect complexion everyday!

I just love going to the pumpkin patch during the autumn season. Maybe, because when I was a young girl one of my all-time favorite books was, “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

” I enjoyed reading books and I knew one day that I would become an author myself. What I did not know was how my life journey would resemble a roller coaster ride. Are you ready to go for a “wild ride?” I am waiting for you to join me. Come on take your seat. Oh, you had better fasten your belt.

At the age of 13, writing a letter to “the Great Pumpkin” seemed a little silly. I really was a bit too grown-up to be “trick or treating.” I never really cared about the sugar- coated candy, either. Have you read the list of ingredients on those gigantic bags of candy bars? Besides, I wanted to keep my perfect dental record of no cavities. I also tend to smile a lot, so keeping my pearly white teeth seemed important to me. It would be fun to take “Snoopy” to the pumpkin patch. However, I do not have a dog named “Snoopy.” What is a girl to do on this Halloween night?

Lately, I had been thinking about an important job I needed to complete. First, I would write some things on a piece of paper. You know all the negative stuff. Somehow, I could remove the shovel from my parent’s garage without them becoming suspicious. If I am caught this is going to be a “wild ride” for you and me. How do you explain to your parents on Halloween night just why you are holding a large shovel? Oh, mom and dad, I am just going to the pumpkin patch to wait for “the Great Pumpkin” to show up. Well, the shovel is just in case there are ghosts. I might need it for protection. This roller coaster ride (life journey) is becoming crazier by the moment. So just, hold on and take a deep breath. Things are going to get a little spooktacular around here.

What is next? I have to locate the right *cemetery so I can just bury it. I know you are thinking this is just a little creepy. Besides, where else do you go when you need to bury something? However, it is bad to the bone so I have to do this. Can you help me? I know of a *cemetery that would work out really well. It is not very far from our house. Come, just follow me. It is starting to get very dark and it is a little chilly out here. Do you happen to have a coat or a blanket with you? I know what you are thinking. I should have brought my friends with me. But then again, Sally was the only one who thought Linus might be right about “the Great Pumpkin.” Not for very long, though. Soon Sally left the pumpkin patch angry with him. He stood there all alone. My friends will think I am crazy just like Linus. No one would understand, but you.

Now that I am holding the handle, I just need to get my foot on the base of the shovel. The ground is soft so I should be able to dig a big hole. I have quite a bit to bury. After setting my shovel down just long enough to place all of the pieces of paper, containing the disease diabetes and anything negative such as the diabetic label, in the ground, I am ready to start piling on the dirt. You can help if you want. Wow, I buried it. No, we buried it together. Diabetes is dead and buried, but we are alive! We made a choice tonight to live a sweet life. It sure feels good. Are you still with me? Wake up, shake your bones. You scared me for a moment. You know, this has been the best Halloween night ever. I cannot think of a better “treat” than to have spent tonight with you.

Maybe, some day I will be well-known just like Linus. No, not because I was waiting for “the Great Pumpkin” to show up, but because I helped millions of children and adults bury diabetes worldwide.

*The cemetery is really just the family’s garden.

The fact that smoking is hazardous to health is no more a news. All the people including the smokers are aware of the fact that smoking is injurious.

But most of us do not exactly know the particular ill effects of smoking and we prefer to keep it that way. As long as it is vague we feel we are safe. There is probably not one organ in the body that smoking doesn’t harm. Be it the five sense organs, or the major internal organs like the heart, lungs, brain, or kidneys- smoking spares none. One more thing that most of the people are not aware of is that smoking also affects your sex organ, and your fertility. That is why some governments of the world are going to start anti smoking campaigns that clearly state the harms of smoking in a person’s sexual life because men are really touchy about their sexual life and their sexual organ. They take it as a blow to their identity as a man. Smoking induces impotency and this very term sends a chill down a man’s spine. Hence the governments are trying to cash in on this weakness of men in order to help people do away with this fateful addiction.

Now if we consider that these campaigns become successful and men actually give up smoking after learning about the threat that smoking poses on their manlihood, but what would we do about the women who are caught in this deadly addiction. Well, smoking burns down the sexual urge or the libido in a woman and there are serious chances that she may turn cold in bed and disappoint her man. Scared aren’t you? Women dread the prospect of being not accepted by the man they love. Yet another serious threat that smoking poses in the life of a women is that it brings in infertility and many a times puts her and her child’s life in danger.

There are numerous other harms that smoking can bring about in a human body. But because smoking is an addiction, people become helpless in front of it, they are unable to quit smoking even if they actually want to. Hence if the governments of all the countries target these weaknesses in people and focus on the issues related to quit smoking support then there are chances that people might give up smoking to a great extent. Of course, there won’t be 100% success, but then a beginning has to be made. A small line at the bottom of the cigarette packet and huge banners and celebrity ads campaigning for no smoking won’t do any good unless there are real hard hitting and pinching “no smoking” campaigns.

They can also distribute quit smoking medicines like Chantix free of cost or at discounted rates. Pfizer Chantix can be of immense help in the task of giving up the dangerous addiction of smoking. It is easily available and one can buy chantix online or buy chantix from local chemists. But before you actually start using this medicine it is important to show yourself to a doctor first. Chantix is supposed to be the next block buster medicine of Pfizer after Viagra as it is just as successful for quit smoking as Viagra is for erectile dysfunction. So, if you are fed up with your smoking habit and are actually keen on quitting order chantix once you acquire a prescription for the same.

It starts out as the male seed of a flower, collected to be processed and stored by honey bees in their hives. As it is based on a natural sexual cell, it contains all substances necessary for the healthy development of new organisms, including essential amino acids, a large variety of vitamins, enzymes and carbohydrates.

It has been described as one of the most complete foods for human consumption, with some research claiming that a human could survive indefinitely on bee pollen and water only. It contains all of the nutrients necessary to sustain life.

Bee pollen can only be produced by bees - it cannot be reproduced in the laboratory due to some of its chemical components being “unknown” to modern science and therefore unidentifiable.

Uses

All body functions can benefit from its use, especially the reproductive, immune and nervous systems. Some of the more common uses are:

Improving the functions of the liver

    Strengthening of the heart

Treatment of burns and other skin injures

    Promote healing

Since the tragedy of September 11th, I have had numerous people ask me about natural means to prevent exposure to biological attacks by the terrorists.

Therefore, I have done some research and have spoken with several Naturopathic Doctors. This article relates several methods that have been shown effective against such infections as anthrax.

But first, a disclaimer: Although I will discuss the possible role of natural products in optimizing our immune systems and their possible role as antibacterials, antifungals, and antivirals, please note this statement: “No dietary supplement or other natural product has been approved for the treatment of Anthrax.” The Dietary and Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 disallows claims to “prevent, treat, cure, or mitigate disease” on dietary health supplements. I recommend that any individual who thinks they may have been exposed to anthrax or any biological or chemical weapon to follow the CDC recommendations to put down the object and notify law enforcement officials and medical professionals immediately.

Anthrax is lethal due to the toxins it produces. The toxins destroy the white blood cells in the body that normally attacks foreign invaders and fight infection. Research shows that the toxin works by producing a burst of oxygen that causes cell destruction.

However, when antioxidants were introduced, the toxins did not destroy the cells. This infers that antioxidants build the immune system making a person less susceptible to the anthrax toxins and other exposures we might encounter. According to a six-year study at UC-Irvine on natural products and their effect on the immune system published in the Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association, the top four products were glyconutrients, phytochemicals, garlic, and aloe. All of these are extremely high in antioxidants.

The problem with taking powerful antibiotics such as Cipro is that the side effects are bad, especially when taken for 2 months. Also, taking this powerful drug as a preventative measure is an invitation to develop a resistance to the drug.

Changing your diet can also be beneficial in preventing potential infection. Foods that will help boost your immune system include:

Asparagus: Contains Vitamin C, A, sulfur, and folic acid, and the diuretic asparagines. May help cleanse the arteries.

Beets: High in Vitamin A, iron, and Calcium, Iron, Potassium. May help strengthen the heart.

Broccoli: Cruciferous vegetable that is thought to have anticancer properties. Rich in Vitamin A, C, and folic acid. May help improve eyesight and skin.

Cabbage: Rich in chlorophyll, Vitamin C, and selenium, sulfur, and chlorine. May help improve digestion.

Carrots: 1 cup of carrots contains 20,000 IU’s of vitamin A - helpful in supporting skin health and providing immune protection.

Garlic: “The King of Herbs” - Inhibits the common cold virus, eliminates toxins from the body.

Mustard Greens: Influences the lungs, reduces cold mucus associated with lung infections.

Shiitake Mushroom: Good source of geranium. Improves cellular oxygenation and enhances immunity.

Lemons: high Vitamin C and potassium. May be used as a strengthener, cleanser, or rejuvenator.

Oranges: One orange has 65 milligrams of Vitamin C. Oranges have more Vitamin A (beta carotene) than other citrus fruits, which may help fight infection.

Some traditional herbs which can support the immune system are thuja, garlic, echinacea, usnea, goldenseal, elderberry, sumac and grapeseed extracts. Colostrum from cow’s milk provides helpful immunoglobulins. Other immune supporters are mushroom extracts, pycogenol, and CoQ10.

Colloidal Silver has no known side effects and supports the immune system. Unlike conventional antibiotics, germs do not develop resistance to the action of silver, because it is impossible for single-celled germs to mutate into silver-resistant forms. A properly prepared colloid of silver is very safe to use, without the many negative side effects of prescription antibiotics. Colloidal silver can be taken indefinitely, because the body does not develop a tolerance to it.

Unlike ordinary antibiotics, which kill only a few disease-causing organisms, colloidal silver is known to effectively kill more than 650 illness-causing microorganisms. This includes bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Silver has been used effectively for hundreds of years and was effective against the plague and other virulent pathogens.

You may research this in more detail on the Internet. There are thousands of articles on the positive nature of the alternative health regimen. For more conventional information, the CDC has a new and updated website on bioterrorism and emergency preparedness. The website address is: http://www.bt.cdc.gov

As adults it is perfectly normal and expected that we use a pillow when we sleep. In fact, sleeping without a pillow can be quite painful and leave us waking up with a stiff neck or perhaps even stopping us getting to sleep in the first place.

It is therefore no surprise that many parents wonder whether their child would also be more comfortable if given a baby pillow.

The answer to the question though, is dependent on the age of your child, and also where they are sleeping…….

If your child is younger than two years old, a pillow is definitely not recommended. A child under this age will normally not need a support for his or her head and more importantly there is always some risk of them suffocating on the pillow. Also, if your child is still of this young age but has started climbing, crawling or walking then the pillow could be used as an aid to climbing out of their crib.

Therefore, most research suggests that normally a pillow should not be considered until the baby is at least two years old and is also no longer sleeping in a crib but has progressed to a toddler bed.

Even when your child is slightly older though, it is not always necessary for them to use a pillow. If they are sleeping well without a pillow then there is probably no need to introduce one.

If and when you do decide to give your child a pillow, make sure it is an actual ‘baby sleep pillow’ rather than just one you already have in your house. The pillow should be relatively firm so that the child cannot sink into it whilst sleeping and be smothered or suffocated. It should also be smaller than a regular adult pillow, possibly around the size of a travel pillow and be easily washable for when your child has those little accidents. If your child suffers from any allergies you will also be able to buy a baby pillow that is non-allergenic

If you are still uncertain as to whether the time is right to introduce a baby pillow to your child’s bed you may wish to consider speaking to your doctor to get his or her input or just waiting until your child actually asks for a pillow or shows some signs of struggling to sleep on a flat bed.
